Itapecuru Falls in Carolina – Maranhão – Brazil

Like at FacebookHere is one more picture from Carolina, in Maranhão’s countryside. This one has been taken in July 19th, 2011. Once again Bruno has decided to show him many times, as in the picture taken at Village Rio Verde last April.

Technical datasheet:

It has been done once again without a tripod, but it was very easy to assemble. The parallax errors practically didn’t exist. Nature pictures some times are like this. This one doesn’t have strong or very long straight lines. The only parallax adjustment was made at the electric transmission wires, far away. Besides that it has a little hole in the water due to some masks I have used. To fix that a clone tool was used.

Once again I did different expositions from one only original image and combined them using Enfuse.

See you, Cartola.

Kids Playing at the Farm in Carolina, Maranhão, Brazil

This is one more picture made at Carolina, Maranhão, Brazil. And I’ll post many more here as I finish them. The picture was taken in July, 2011. I think many can will feel nostalgic with this kind of image, like me. I used to camp and to go to countryside when I was a kid. Places like this bring me very good memories. I didn’t know Carolina before, we went there because much people from my wife’s family have some history there and have a special place in there hearts for this place.

At the picture we can see the kids playing. They were throwing rocks with a slingshot made with a fork and some elastics. Two of them are my own kids.

Technical data sheet:

This has been an easy picture. Good light, few “human lines”, few people movement. I think I can improve my pictures sharpness and noise reduction. I will begin to work with RAW files and learn how to deal better with those aspects.

To improve the dynamic range I have simulated different expositions from the original image at GIMP and then combined them with Enfuse. If I haven’t done that the darker places at stronger shadows would show less details. For this the RAW file possibly will also give better results.

It has also been the first time I gave more attention to noise reduction. After some tests I have used a demo version of Neat Image Standalone for Linux on FreeBSD. It ran ok and I liked the result. Next time I might test some GIMP plugins or ImageMagick scripts to noise reduction.

Pablo Lapidusas at National Museum of Fine Arts, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Hi people,

this is one more 360 picture in a Music at the Museum project. This one was taken last June during a presentation of Pablo Lapidusas, a Brazilian pianist. On this one we can see a beautiful room of the National Museum of Fine Arts, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Please, never mind about the sound quality, cause I recorded it on my cell phone.

I liked the final image quality. There are some ghosts due to the combination of 3 expositions with enfuse. Whoever moved turned into a ghost 🙂

Show at Light Cultural Center

During one more daily edition of the Música no Museu (Music at the Museum) project I’ve had the pleasure to see the Yellow Cake band show. The group plays vocal and is formed by four Eletronuclear employees: Carlos Marcondes, Geraldo Pauluzzi, José Ricardo e Luciano Salvador. They have played with the musicians: Alexandre Caldi (Sax and Flute), Carlos César Motta (Drums), Daniel Drummond (Bass), Nando Duarte (Electric Guitar) e Raphael Montechiari (Keyboards).

I went there specially to see my childhood friend Alexandre Caldi. Unfortunately the picture hardly shows him, but he is there, I swear. At the end the one that is better shown in the photo is myself 🙂 As the photographer usually doesn’t show in the picture I guess I can do that sometimes 🙂

I liked the flare effects on the final pano.

FISL 12 – International Free Software Conference – Porto Alegre, Brazil – 2011 – Pan#3

FISL 12 – Central Events Square

This is one more pano from FISL 12 in 2011. This time I show you a picture from the central square where were the expositors at the conference. I have shoot 5 panoramas at FISL 12, so there are 2 more for me to mount. In this one I had my friend Mônica helping me as a model to make the picture nicer 🙂 Thanks Mônica! Although it is not an outdoor picture I liked very much the initial little planet format in the starting animation. You can click with the right mouse button to see the picture in other formats, including little planet.

Curiosity

The main actress, Monica, is looking forward and making a V signal with her hand. Curiously each of these parts were originally in a separate picture. In fact, believe in it or not, it was not intentional.

Technical data sheet:

This time as I shoot over the red carpet it was not necessary to use an extra nadir picture to remove the tripod image. I really think I need to improve my image quality next time. Maybe I’m gonna stop using so closed apertures like f22.

This time I also used ImageMagick more than I’m used to. I used the “convert” command line utility to change original images color, contrast and brightness.

See you, Cartola.

Foz do Iguaçu View From the Top of Rafain Centro Hotel

This year I’ve been to Foz do Iguaçu on the beginning of my vacation. This picture was taken from the top of the hotel where I was hosted with my family. I would like to thank the manager that, not only allowed me to go there and take the picture from a restricted area, but also helped me.

I decided to shoot at sunset. The sky was beautiful, with some clouds drawing the blue and orange colors. I did it on July 11th 2011 by 5:50pm.

I left the city darker than it could be. I have made a lighter version, but then I saw that the most beautiful part of the scene is the sky, so I went back. This dark version is more faithful to the original image.

This is the first time I use a new viewer for the web. It has new features like the initial animation, the sun moving flares and the interactive Little Planet scene.

Hope you like and comment!
